83 No one does suspense like Laura Scott. Scott had me turning pages with conflict, action, and an emotional story of overcoming past abuse. Hailey Donovan was fostered in a preacher's home that should have shown God's love, but instead, showed the opposite. Finally, when she gets her life on track, a sniper shoots at Hailey as she hikes in the Smoky Mountains. Enter park ranger, Rock Wilson. Rock hears gunfire and realizes a woman's life is in danger. As he tries to keep Hailey safe, he realizes that past hurts and secrets make Hailey want to flee town no matter what danger may follow.Scott does an excellent job bringing Hailey out of her shell and showing how she trusts Rock and abandons the scars of abuse. I enjoyed Rock's faith and how he makes Hailey realize that believing in God should affect one's actions and how they live their life.Hailey's job at the petting farm was a delight. I liked Nora as a secondary character and her role as a second mother to Hailey.If you like fast-paced thrillers, romance, and a heart-tugging emotional journey, you will love Scott's story.
